LOVE IN TWO LEGENDS FROM SOUTHEAST ASIAN

ABSTRACT: This paper analyses the love in two legends from China and Thailand. The first was found in the Malaysian Chinese oral tradition while the second was recovered directly in Thailand. The love of two couples corresponding to each narration respectively has a purpose to analyse the scope of this feeling as axis of the humanity and to find cultural manifestations relevant to both nations where the legends arise. In parallel, it seeks to compare the artwork with the legends, love and nature. Love, as an essence of the humanity permits discovery in the legends forces that threaten against it and has repercussions in the freedom and rights of the people, but in this narrations are in less scale.
